Description

Aquarela do Japao (Japanese Watercolour) is an imaginary musical watercolour painted by a South American painter whilst visiting Japan. The vastness of the object depicted (the various landscapes and themes of Japan) can be recognised in precise and corresponding harmonies of the piece. What is interesting is that this occurs through the lenses of the harmonic rules of a Spanish or Portuguese speaking country. As such this piece represents an imagined meeting point between Japanese and South American music.
