Simone Lobbia – GrDipEd University of Western Australia, Violin Diploma, BA Psychology
Simone Lobbia is a Perth (WA) based composer published by Wirripang (NSW) specialised in instrumental and vocal art music performed in Australia and Europe.
He was 2023 Artist in Residence (composer) at the Fremantle Arts Centre along with paper print specialist and visual artist Andrew McDonald.
Simone is the founder and artistic director of “Viaggio in Italia-Journey to Italy” Music Festival.
He is the recipient of the ASME (Australia Society for Music Education) “Augment and Inspire” award 2020 and has been selected for the “Growing your own” ANCA WA (Australian National Choral Association) project 2021. He has been awarded the 2024 “Works for Us” commission by the WA Young Artists Chamber Music Program.
He has received several financial commissions by Choirs such as the St Mary’s Cathedral Choir and Consort Cantare. His music has been premiered/will be premiere this year by Orchestras and Ensembles such as the Beecroft Orchestra, Western Australia Chamber Music Program, the Winthrop Singers, Plectra Quintet, Allegri Chamber Orchestra and the IMSS guitar ensemble.
Simone is also a composer of regularly played pedagogical repertoire. He also holds composition workshops with string ensembles that produce collective compositions.
Over the last twenty years Simone has worked with various orchestras and chamber music ensembles as a professional violin player. In the past eight years he has further developed his conducting and singing skills both in Orchestral and Choral settings.
He holds a Violin Diploma (Performance), a Graduate Diploma of Education in Music and a Degree in Psychology.
He has been a Music and Violin/Viola teacher for over twenty years and conducts String Ensembles and Orchestras both in Italy and Australia. Simone is currently Instrumental Teacher (Violin/Viola) and Orchestral conductor at IMSS (DoE – Instrumental Music School Services).
